Depart Los Angeles after midnight. En route, we will cross the International Date Line, arriving Tokyo the next day.
Experience modernity and tradition in Fukuoka
Oct. 21, Mon. ARRIVE TOKYO/HANEDA – FUKUOKA.
On arrival at Tokyo, proceed through immigration and customs, then to the domestic flight to Fukuoka. After arrival, tour of the city includes: Dazaifu, and Tenmangu Shrine (dedicated to Michizane Sugawara, the God of Learning). Lunch included. Check in at hotel after 3 p.m. (L)
Visit Peace Park/A-bomb Museum in Nagasaki
Oct. 22, Tue. FUKUOKA – NAGASAKI – FUKUOKA.
Leave this morning for Nagasaki. First visit to Glover Garden, an open-air museum. Lunch at a Chanpon restaurant, after which visit Peace Park/A-bomb Museum. Return to Fukuoka around 6:30 p.m. (B L)
Oct. 23, Wed. FUKUOKA – KOISHIWARA – HITA – BEPPU.
Travel to Koishiwara, pottery town. Continue to Hita City for lunch. On to Beppu. (B L D)
Yufuin – Popular tourist spot on the plateau
Oct. 24, Thu. BEPPU – YUFUIN – BEPPU.
This morning, visit Yufuin Town, lunch at Saigakukan. Return to Beppu for afternoon sightseeing at Jigoku (3 places) before returning to hotel. (B L)
Oct. 25, Fri. BEPPU – UWAJIMA
Ferry to Yawatahama for lunch break at Yawatahama Seaport. On to Uwajima for sightseeing of Uwajima Castle and Tenshaen Garden. Continue to hotel. (B D)

Oct. 26, Sat. UWAJIMA – MATSUYAMA
Visit Date Museum and local market. Ferry ride to Yusu-mizugaura to see the Terrace Field. After lunch, depart for Matsuyama. the capital city of Ehime Prefecture on Shikoku Island. (B L)
Oct. 27, Sun. MATSUYAMA –TAKAMATSU
Sightseeing in Matsuyama and visit Matsuyama Castle. Continue to Takamatsu, the capital city of Kagawa Prefecture, with a lunch stop on the way. Visit beautiful strolling garden of Ritsurin Park, followed by time on the Shopping Street before continuing to hotel. (B L)

Travel to Shodoshima, a peaceful island getaway, for sightseeing of Marukin Soysauce Memorial and the Movie Village of “Twenty-Four Eyes.” (B D)

Leave Takamatsu by Marine Liner, changing to “bullet” train at Okayama, arriving in Kyoto in time for lunch on your own. Afternoon sightseeing of two important spots of interest (B)
