April 2, Sat.  LEAVE LOS ANGELES.   We will board ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS
Flight 5, non stop to Tokyo Narita.  En route we will cross the International Date Line, arriving in Tokyo the next day. 

Visiting Tohoku area

April 3, Sun.  ARRIVE TOKYO/NARITA, CONTINUE TO SENDAI
Upon arrival and after entry procedures, we will board All Nippon Flt. 3235 for a short flight to Sendai.

April 4, Mon.   SENDAI
This morning we will visit Matsushima Bay, designated by the Government as one of Japan’s “Scenic Trios.”  Return to Sendai and afternoon free or optional visit to Aoba Castle. (B)

Central Japan- Niigata, Takayama and Kanazawa

April 5, Tue.  SENDAI – NIIGATA
Today we travel to Niigata, an important seaport and the largest city on the coast of the Sea of Japan. (B D)

April 6, Wed.   NIIGATA –  TAKAYAMA
Today we leave for Takayama, a small town that has retained much of their traditional charms and is known as “little  Kyoto.”(B)

April 7, Thu.  TAKAYAMA
Sightseeing today includes Yatai Kaikan, to visit the huge, beautifully decorated floats used during the Takayama Festivals; Takayama Jinya and Kami Sannomachi Street. (B D)

April 8, Fri.  TAKAYAMA – KANAZAWA
We willmotorcoach to Kanazawa. Enroute we will visit Shirakawago Village, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for their “praying hands” farmhouses.  On arrival in Kanazawa, we will visit Kenrokuen Garden and others.

April 9 Sat.       KANAZAWA – AMANOHASHIDATE
Today we will leave for the resort town of Amanohashidate, which means “Bridge to Heaven,” also designated one of Japan’s “Scenic Trios.” (B D)

April 10, Sun.  AMANOHASHIDATE – KYOTO
Today our first train ride takes us to Kyoto.  After arrival, we will visit the three most famous sights in Kyoto:  Sanjusangendo, Golden Pavilion, and Nijo Castle. (B)

April 11, MonKYOTO
Full day at leisure.  Special “shab-shab” dinner in the evening. (B D)

Hiroshima sightseeing

April 12, Tue.   KYOTO – HIROSHIMA
Today we take the “bullet” train to Hiroshima.  On arrival, we will visit the Hiroshima Castle, Peace Memorial Park and Museum. (B)

April 13, Wed.  HIROSHIMA – MIYAJIMA – HIROSHIMA
Visit the famous Kintai Bridge in Iwakuni, and then to the small island of Miyajima, the third of Japan’s “Scenic Trios.”  We will visit the Itsukushima Shrine with its Grand Torii.  Return to Hiroshima after lunch. (B-L)

Enjoy Tokyo, the capital city of Japan

April 14, Thu.  HIROSHIMA TO TOKYO.   We will take a flight from Hiroshima to Tokyo.  After arrival, visit the East Garden of the Imperial Palace, Asakusa Kannon Temple and drive through Ginza. (B)

April 15, Fri.  TOKYO.  All day free for independent activities.  Farewell dinner in the evening. (B D)

April 16, Sat.  NARITA – LOS ANGELES.   From  Tokyo’s Narita Airport, we will board our non-stop flight back to Los Angeles. (B)
